Donald Trump could be hosting royalty at the White House very soon

King Charles shakes hands with Donald Trump as they bid one another farewell at the end of the US State Visit at Windsor Castle

US President, Donald Trump, could be hosting royalty at the White House within months.

New reports suggest that the US leader could have two very important guests in early 2026, the year of a major anniversary.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are reported to be finalising details of a trip to Washington to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The Sun reports that The King and Queen will make the trip, perhaps as early as next spring, and will be hosted by Donald Trump and his wife, Melania.

It’s long been thought that senior members of the Royal Family will head to America for the anniversary. In 1976, the 200th anniversary, Queen Elizabeth II visited the US and later made a high profile mention of that trip and the anniversary in her Christmas speech.

There had been speculation that it would be the Prince and Princess of Wales taking up the US trip.

However, with other reports suggesting a potential overseas tour of Australia for them in 2026, and the huge importance that Donald Trump has placed on his links with King Charles, it seems that it’s the Monarch who will be making this prestigious trip.

It would, in fact, be a State Visit, and it’s most likely to happen in late April 2026, just a few months ahead of American Independence Day.

However, King Charles will also take advice from his medical team about a longer overseas visit – he is still receiving weekly treatment for cancer, following his diagnosis in early 2024.

The State Visit would be one of the most high profile events of the reign of King Charles III and would attract international attention.

It’s expected that the trip would be centred in Washington.

The next State Visit in King Charles” diary comes in just a few weeks’ time. The King is set to welcome the President of Germany to Windsor Castle on December 3 for a three day visit.
