Sarah Ferguson has spoken out about her feelings for both The
Queen and Prince Philip, expressing her admiration for the monarch
and her consort.
“She’s the most exceptional Head of State, lady and mentor. I am
very fortunate to know her.”
Speaking of the Duke of
Edinburgh, Sarah said: “I have huge respect for him and always
admired him.“It was a lovely photograph of us all together. It was
very good to be with him again.
“My father and he used to play polo together. It brought back
memories of that.”
It is one of the worst-kept secrets that there is a great deal
of tension between the 97-year-old Duke and the 59-year-old
Duchess.
However, they put their differences to one side in October as
they joined together in harmony to celebrate the happiness of
Eugenie and Jack on their special day.
In the official wedding photograph taken by Alex Bramall, Prince
Philip is seated just a few centimetres from the
mother-of-the-bride who is standing next to her ex-husband, the
Duke of York.
Also pictured in the picture is Her Majesty The Queen, Princess
Beatrice, George & Nicola Brooksbank, Thomas Brooksbank and the
bridesmaids & page boys.
The Duchess of York was said to be a ‘bag of nerves’ at the
prospect of meeting Prince Philip.
He has shunned her since 1992 when scandals the Duchess were
reported in the newspapers.
Four years later in 1996, the Duke and Duchess of York divorced,
but they remain good friends and live together.
The Queen appears to have accepted Sarah back into the family,
and she often stays with Her Majesty at Balmoral Castle during the
summer.
However, it is no coincidence that whenever Sarah is at Balmoral
or another royal residence, the Duke of Edinburgh is nowhere to be
seen.
Royal Diaries are planned months in advance, and each year the
Duchess arrives and departs before the Duke of Edinburgh is in
residence.
