His Highness Prince Nikolai of Denmark, 18, received his graduation hat yesterday, Tuesday, 26 June from Herlufsholm School in Næstved. He has attended the school for the past four years.
For his final exam, the Prince scored a ten; as is tradition, his score was written into his student hat. The family is said to be very pleased with Nikolai’s results. Prince Joachim told SE and HØR, “It went really well.”
They also all wrote a message inside his hat congratulating him on his success.
The Royal Danish House released four images from the celebratory day – two of which were taken by Prince Nikolai’s proud father, Prince Joachim. One picture is a solo image of Prince Nikolai in his graduation uniform, while another shows his father helping him get dressed. Prince Joachim helped his son adjust the hat on his head while the Countess looked on. The third image is a happy family shot, and the fourth is another family selfie taken by Prince Joachim.
Those in attendance for the ceremony presenting the hats included his father, mother, Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg and younger brother, Prince Felix. His stepmother, Princess Marie, half-siblings, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena and grandmother, Queen Margrethe were not in attendance.
After the hat ceremony, he packed his belongings up from his dorm and loaded them into his father’s car to head home for the summer.
A formal graduation ceremony took place today with just Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Countess Alexandra in attendance.
Prince Nikolai will have the summer to enjoy before following in his father’s footsteps in the military at Varde Kaserne in August where he will take part in a two-year course to become a reserve officer.
The Prince has been working as a model after signing with Scoop Models. Just a few days ago, he participated in the Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2019 show in Paris. He took over Dior’s Instagram, speaking in perfect English, for the day giving followers a behind the scenes look at the preparation for the show.
