A seat for a Princess: Beatrice of York has seat named in her honour

<![CDATA[A seat at the York Theatre Royal has been named after Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice.
The gesture is a part of the ongoing effort to raise awareness about the theatre's 'Name A Seat' campaign. As a part of the campaign, seats can be named after a person of your choice for £300. The person for whom the seat was named will receive a commemorative certificate, and an engraved brass plate on the back of the seat will bear his or her name for ten years.
The proceeds from this campaign will be used to pay for the £4.1 million refurbishment of the theatre's front and main house, a structure which can seat 840 people. The redevelopment project will begin in March next year, and the theatre will remain closed for eight months while the stage is replaced, and the foyer, cafe and auditorium are improved upon.
"We were delighted to have the opportunity to present Princess Beatrice with her own seat during her visit, and hope this will raise further awareness of our fundraising campaign," said Liz Wilson, the chief executive of the theatre. "As part of the theatre’s transformation, we are offering our audiences and friends the chance to personalise a part of the theatre by naming a seat in the newly decorated auditorium, and hope Princess Beatrice’s involvement will inspire others to become part of the theatre’s history."
Princess Beatrice, who is very fond of the theatre and studied Drama for her A Levels, is a patron of York Theatre Royal. Earlier this month, she visited York to learn more about the upcoming developments.
Seats are available for purchase via the York Theatre Royal website: York Theatre Royal.
