The celebrations have not slowed down after Baby Sussex, Archie Harrison, was born earlier this month. Â Now, the Chelsea Flower Show is taking their turn to mark the birth of a new royal baby.
Chrysanthemums Direct has launched the “Archie Harrison” Chrysanthemum. Â Picked prior to his birth, the flower was chosen based on it’s bright-yellow colour which would make it gender-neutral.
This isn’t the first time a chrysanthemum has been used to celebrate a royal occasion. Â In 1947, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip chose to adorn Westminster Abbey with the flower for their wedding. Â Since then, it has become tradition that every new member of the royal family has a variety named after them.
In a statement, Â Martyn Flint, Manager of Chrysanthemums Direct said: “We have been keeping our cultivar closely under wraps since the Duchess of Sussex announced her pregnancy last October. We are delighted to mark this momentous occasion and share our congratulations with the new parents, Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with our new Chrysanthemum ‘Archie Harrison’. We look forward to seeing Chrysanthemum ‘Archie Harrison’ grow and prosper alongside its namesake.”
Those interested in the Chrysanthemum are able to purchase one for themselves. Â The RHS Chelsea Flower Show runs 21 May – 25 May. Â However, the new Chrysanthemum isn’t the only attraction with a royal touch.
The Duchess of Cambridge has her own garden design on display. Â Packed with a treehouse and swing, the garden aims to inspire families to get outside and enjoy the community.
One of the  Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s charities, Camfed, is also displaying a climate change themed garden at the show.  Camfed is a charity that helps to provide education to girls and young women throughout Africa.  The garden features solar panels and a smart irrigation system.
