Royal well-wishers who sent birthday greetings to Princess Charlotte receive thank-you cards

When Princess Charlotte celebrated her third birthday on 2 May, she received messages of congratulations and good wishes from around the world. The Duke and Duchess have shown their gratitude to these royal well-wishers with a beautiful photo card of the young princess.

The image chosen for the outside of the card was one of the few taken by the Duchess of Cambridge of Princess Charlotte on the steps of Kensington Palace on her first day of nursery school. The young princess started at Wilcock’s Nursery School, Kensington in January of this year. Dressed in a red overcoat with matching buckle shoes, grey tights and a backpack Charlotte appears happy and eager for her first day in the classroom.

Inside the card was a message from the Duke and Duchess which read: “Thank you for so kindly writing as you did to Princess Charlotte on the occasion of her third birthday. This was most thoughtful of you, and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who you send their best wishes.”

With the arrival of younger brother Prince Louis, less than two weeks before her birthday, the celebration of her parent’s seventh wedding anniversary and the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, there has been much happening at Kensington Palace this spring. The official Kensington Palace Twitter account thanked the public for their support saying: “Thank you everyone for the beautiful cards and letters following Princess Charlotte’s third birthday, the birth of Prince Louis, and the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. We’ve received over 36,000 letters in the past month alone.”

Members of the public who sent anniversary cards to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to congratulate them on celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary on 29 April received a thank you not featuring an image of the couple embracing during their official visit to India and Bhutan in 2016 – the same photo they used in last year’s card. The message inside the card read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank you for the thoughtful message you so kindly sent on the occasion of their 7th wedding anniversary.”
