Prince William and Kate’s choice of photographer Jason Bell wins praise

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s choice of Hollywood photographer Jason Bell to capture Prince George’s christening has won praise.

“Jason is a terrific choice,” British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said after it was confirmed London-born Jason would take the official images. “His portraits are memorable and have a real substance, but he is also a delightful person and makes all his sitters feel at ease.”

William and Kate have chosen celebrated photographer Jason Bell to capture the historic moments of George’s christening.

It was announced on Tuesday, Jason, who has photographed many A-list stars including British actress Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman, would take the historic portraits at Clarence House following the 45-minute ceremony at St James’s Palace.

He has become one of the most respected photographers in the world and many of his images often appear in glossy magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair.

Many of Jason’s portraits are also available to view at the National Portrait Gallery, of which the Duchess of Cambridge became patron of in 2012.

Prince George’s christening will take place on Wednesday, October 23 at 3pm and will be attended by senior royals including The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, Duchess of Cornwall.

William and Kate’s three-month-old son will become the first royal baby to be christened in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace since Princess Beatrice in December 1988.

Jason Bell will capture the magical moments for William and Kate, who will then decide which ones to release. The pictures will then be unveiled on Thursday, a day after the christening.

It is expected a historic portrait of the The Queen with future heirs Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George will be taken.

The last time this happened was in July 1894 at the christening of the future King Edward VIII, showing him with his father George V, grandfather Edward VII and great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
