A new royal baby for a family already celebrating an historic moment

Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg at the accession of her brother as Grand Duke

Luxembourg’s royals have had a good October and it just got better. Exactly two weeks after they celebrated the start of the reign of Grand Duke Guillaume, they’ve welcomed a new baby to the family.

Guillaume’s sister, Princess Alexandra, gave birth to her second child a fortnight to the day that her big brother became ruler of the tiny country.

Alexandra and her husband, Nicolas Bagory, welcomed a son. Their little boy has been called Helie.

He’s a second child for the couple whose daughter, Victoire, is one year old. In the announcement of the happy arrival, the couple said their little girl is ‘ecstatic’ to have a brother.

Helie Bagory won’t have a royal title. He is ninth in line to the throne of Luxembourg.

He arrived on October 17 2025, two weeks on from his uncle becoming Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

Guillaume took the throne on the abdication of his father, Grand Duke Henri, on October 3 2025. Several days of celebrations took place across Luxembourg, culminating in a huge party in the centre of the capital city.

Helie Balgory will have a playmate in the new heir to the throne. Prince Charles is just five and is the youngest first in line in the world. He has a little brother, Prince Francois, who is two.

Helie is a ninth grandchild for Grand Duke Henri and his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. Henri gave up his throne just a few days shy of the 25th anniversary of his own accession.

Princess Alexandra attended his abdication and the formal events for the accession of her brother but missed several of the celebratory events as she was resting as the birth of her son approached.
