Princess Anne returns to public engagements after hospital stay

The Princess Royal has returned to public engagements for the first time since a hospital stay for concussion.

Princess Anne, 73, attended the Riding for the Disabled Association National Championships where she presented awards as the organisation marks a major milestone.

The Princess handed out prizes at the ceremony in Hartbury, Gloucestershire as the RDA marked its 55th anniversary.

The RDA was founded in 1969 with the Princess Royal becoming patron in 1971 and president in 1986.

The association and its work has always been extremely important to Princess Anne and her return to engagements at an RDA event put an extra spotlight on the organisation.

The Princess looked well at the event, choosing a green trouser suit with navy blue hat and matching gloves.

Buckingham Palace said the event was part of a phased return to work for the Princess after the accident that left her in hospital for five days.

The Princess was found with injuries consistent with being kicked by a horse at her Gatcombe Park home on June 23rd 2024. She was taken to Southmead Hospital where she was treated for concussion and minor head injuries.

After five nights, she was allowed to return home to continue her recuperation.

Since then, her busy diary has seen many events postponed as Princess Anne continues her recovery.

Earlier this week, her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, stood in for her at an event, presenting awards at the annual dinner of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
