King Charles and Queen Camilla enjoy Royal Ascot alongside Carole Middleton

King Charles talks to Carole Middleton as they enjoy day two of Royal Ascot in warm sunshine

The mother of the Princess of Wales, Carole Middleton, was among the guests in the Royal Enclosure as Royal Ascot’s second day got under way.

Carole Middleton joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Prince of Wales to watch the racing on another sun soaked day at the Berkshire course.

Her daughter, the Princess of Wales, had had to drop out of attendance just hours earlier. Catherine was set to attend and was even mentioned in the list for the carriage procession which is released at noon every day of the meeting. However, soon afterward a revised list was shared which showed the Princess would no longer attend.

It was reported the Princess of Wales was disappointed to have to miss the event. When she returned to public life after treatment for cancer in 2024, she confirmed that she would continue to prioritise her health.

Catherine’s mum, Carole Middleton, was seen joking and chatting happily with King Charles and Queen Camilla as the afternoon unfolded.

Earlier, The King and Queen had been joined in the lead carriage by The Prince of Wales as well as Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Saud.

The second carriage included the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester who were with the Earl and Countess of Halifax.

Top golfer, Justin Rose, and his wife, Kate, were joined by author William Boyd and his wife, Susan, in the third carriage.

The King’s beloved cousin, Lady Sarah Chatto, was in the fourth carriage with her husband, Daniel. Authors Robert Harris and Gill Hornby completed the carriage line up on day two.
