How many people wrote to the Royal Family last year?

The Royal Family has shared that in the second year of King Charles’ reign, they have received over 100,000 letters from across the globe. 

On Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter), the Royal Family shared a video on Wednesday highlighting just how much mail they receive in a year. In the last year, members of the Royal Family received over 100,000 pieces of mail from all over the world.

The video also shared that there are currently over 115,000 postboxes in the UK that represent the reigns of British monarchs. Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King Edward VIII, King George VI, and Queen Elizabeth II are all represented on UK postboxes.

The first postbox to feature the cypher of King Charles III was unveiled in July 2024 and is in Cambourne. School children in Great Cambourne sent letters to The King using his new postbox. 

The King’s Correspondence Team reads and sorts all letters sent to His Majesty, and they respond on his behalf. A selection are included in The King’s daily Red Box where he receives important paperwork. 

Anyone can write to The King; the only inquiries that will not receive a response are political and personal disputes, as he cannot intervene. Royals are unable to accept gifts.
