This is the unexpected royal title that the Princess of Wales got ahead of Princess Anne

The Princess of Wales was crowned with an unexpected title this year and her competition for it was Princess Anne. And with Christmas approaching and a big lunch on the menu, it might be one that neither wants in case it lands them with a very big job.

Kate was named as the royal most likely to be a good cook in one of the more bizarre polls of 2025.

People were asked which member of the Royal Family was likely to be the best cook and the Princess came out on top by a wide margin.

Three in ten of those polled said Kate was the best cook in the family and her nearest rival was Princess Anne.

Of those asked by Ipsos, 13% named Anne as the person most likely to be a good cook. She was just ahead of Queen Camilla on 12%.

Prince William might want to hide, too, when the Christmas dinner needs prepping as he was fourth on the list of best cook at Sandringham.

King Charles was well down the list on this rundown, coming in at eighth with just 4% of respondents thinking he was the best cook.

The poll is one of a number of unusual questions asked about the Royal Family in 2025. One questioned how Queen Camilla should be known, despite her title being indisputable.

When asked how Her Majesty should be named in public, three in ten said Camilla, Queen Consort while 27% responded ‘Queen Camilla’. A minority, 15%, wanted her to be known as Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall.

Other surveys have concentrated on weightier matters with an Ipsos poll in May asking whether future coronations should be scaled back in comparison with that of Charles III. Almost half of those asked, 44%, said they believed they should.

Regular surveys are taken through the year on popularity, both of the Royal Family and of individual members. Prince William has remained the most popular member throughout 2025 and the latest sounding from Ipsos, in November 2025, put him on 71% favourability rating. Kate was second on the list with a favourability score of 69%, again just ahead of Princess Anne who is on 62%.

The same poll also found that 90% of those asked believe King Charles was right to strip his brother, Andrew, of his titles.
