Princess Anne is the most practical princess as some of her words of wisdom show

Princess Anne, Princess Royayl smiles during a busy day of engagements.

The Princess Royal is celebrating her 75th birthday this August, a major milestone for everyone. She has long been recognised as one of the hardest working royals in the family and has quietly become a favourite with the public. And as such, she has several memorable quotes!

Known to get down to business in both her professional and private lives, she once explained her direct approach to her royal role, saying “As a young princess I was a huge disappointment to everyone concerned… It’s impractical to go around in life dressed in a long white dress and a crown.

Known for her dedication to the sport, Princess Anne has been involved with equestrian sports for most of her life, noting “I don’t ever remember not riding.”

In 1969, the BBC and ITV joined forces to create Royal Family, a documentary about the Royal Family following their day-to-day life ahead of the then Prince Charles’ investiture as Prince of Wales. It has long become infamous, with several members of the family regretting it, including Anne who later said ‘I never liked the idea of the ‘Royal Family’ film. I always thought it was a rotten idea.”

Given that the Princess Royal is known for being down-to-earth and practical in all matters, it is not surprising that she finds phones and devices in general to be an annoyance rather than a help. She’s said in the past “I find it very difficult to understand why anybody gets sucked into screens and devices. Life’s too short, frankly. There’s more entertaining things to be done. I suppose that puts me in the real dinosaur range.”

One of the Princess Royal’s greatest strengths is her ability to get on with any engagement and connect with the people she meets on a daily basis, no matter if it is a waste treatment plant, a barn, or a school. Her wide range of knowledge was the result of curiosity and dedication as she mentioned “I learned just by going around. I know all about Kleenex factories, and all sorts of things.”

One of Anne’s most poignant quotes explains her relationship with her late mother, “She’s my mother and the Queen.”
