Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been released under investigation after a day in custody. He was arrested just after 8am on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
He was seen being driven out of a police station in Norfolk, 11 hours after being detained.
Officers arrested him at his home on the Sandringham estate this morning, the day he turned 66 years old.
The police also searched his home at Sandringham as well as a property in Berkshire, believed to be his former home at Royal Lodge, which he left in January.
