Man on trial who sought to: ‘kill Charles and William and Harry become king’

A right wing extremist aspired to kill The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge in the hope that fellow ginger Prince Harry would become king.

Mark Colborne wanted to “put a bullet in Charles’ head” using a sniper rifle “for the Aryan people”.

Colborne is accused of also seeking to carry out a cyanide attack on ethnic minorities because he felt “belittled” by being white and having ginger hair.

A notebook gathered as part of the evidence from his home detailed on how he sought to kill Prince Charles and Prince William.

The Old Bailey listened to entries from the notebook including: “I don’t want to be a serial killer. I’m more of an Anders Breivik (the Norwegian mass killer). I have left potential targets open. I was waiting for an opportunity to kill one of them. LET it be Prince Charles which would be good.”

Colborne noted: “Take up a good position and put a bullet in Charles’s head. He is protected but not too protected. I would sacrifice my life for that one shot. Kill Charles and William and Harry become king. Kill the tyrants.”

The notes continued with one entry citing: “The first chance I would get with a rifle if he crosses my path is to murder Prince Charles.”

Colborne had a series of notes in which he contemplated being: “stuck between committing mass destruction using a weapon of mass destruction and just targeting tyrants.”

The court had listened how Colborne, who suffered from depression and agoraphobia, searched the Internet for explosives and poisons.

He acquired chemicals online as well as dust masks, metal filter funnels, plastic syringes and latex gloves.

In June last year, his half-brother Kevin Colborne informed police after he discovered the chemicals and papers describing Colborne’s racial hatred in his room at the family home.

Just last month, a couple appeared in a court cited for having a crossbow at a Dumfries House, the Scottish Estate Prince Charles saved from closure. They pair were caught by the royal security team with Prince Charles.

They were charged with creating “fear and alarm” by revealing the weapon whilst a member of the Royal Family was in residence as Prince Charles was spending a few days at the Scottish home.

In addition, the pair is also accused of “displaying a crossbow openly”, disturbing the peace and acting in a disorderly manner.
