Princess Charlotte set to make her first overseas tour

It was recently announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be going on their second Royal Tour of Canada, this time making stops on the West Coast.

While no official release from Kensington Palace has been made, The Sunday Times has sources that determine that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be joining their parents.

Prince George undertook his first Royal Tour in 2014 of Australia and New Zealand and will be able to show his younger sister the ropes for her first official tour.

Recent reports have shown that the majority of Canadians are not in favour of a King Charles and bringing the children along will help increase the popularity of the monarchy in Canada. Prince George was nicknamed “the Republican Slayer” during his 2014 tour and this time, he will have the help of Princess Charlotte.

The Sunday Times‘ royal source said: “Canada is a major realm . . . and the duke and duchess are naturally keen to get their children involved early on.”

After the 2014 tour the monarchy was at its highest popularity in Australia and New Zealand for the last 35 years. No doubt they are hoping for the same effect in Canada.

However, just like in Australia and New Zealand the children will only be taking part in “some, but not all” of the events.

The family of four will be visiting British Columbia, where it is reported that they will spend time in Vancouver and Whistler. It is also rumoured that while on their trip to the Yukon the Cambridges will meet up with Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau and his wife.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first visited Canada as a couple in 2011 shortly after their wedding. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement:

“The Duke and Duchess are delighted to be returning to Canada. They hold very happy memories from their visit in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple.

“They are really looking forward to seeing other parts of this beautiful country and having the opportunity to meet many more Canadians along the way.”
