Prince William to turn journalist as he interviews Sir David Attenborough

There can few people in the world who inspire all generations, but Sir David Attenborough is undoubtedly one of them and his relationship with the Royal Family is an example of that.

Who can forget the splendid television documentary he appeared in with Her Majesty The Queen, “The Queen’s Green Planet” about projects throughout the world linked to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Project, which we have covered on Royal Central.

The association with the Royal family goes a long way back though, pictures exist of Sir David showing Prince Charles and Princess Anne members of the parrot family when they were probably little older than Prince William’s eldest children are now.

Kensington Palace has announced recently that at the forthcoming World Economic Forum in Davos that on Day One, Prince William will interview Sir David live on stage about his vital work over the decades and the importance of The Natural World, especially pertinent with the publicity his recent films have been about the problem of plastic.

In addition to his interview, Prince William will return to another of his concerns when he joins a panel discussion on mental health and highlight his view that major employees throughout the world should recognise the detrimental effects of working in high-pressure environments and the role, they have to play in creating mentally healthy societies and workplaces.

It is not the first time the two have shared a platform, Sir David and Prince William also have a connection through the Tusk Trust Conservation Awards in 2016 amongst other occasions.

92-year-old Sir David has worked in broadcasting all his life, joining the BBC straight from studying Natural Sciences at Universities and throughout his life has received honorary degrees from a record thirty-two universities throughout the world.

When asked if he would consider retiring, he said he was enjoying travelling the world at the moment – if his job was hewing coal the answer may well have been different. We and the world will have to wait until next month to hear Prince William’s questions and his answers.
