Yesterday, Prince William attended the passing out parade for the Metropolitan Police in Hendon, Middlesex.
While meeting the officers, who make up the new 182 police constables, as the graduate the Met’s Police Academy, Prince William congratulated them, saying: “Well done guys, you really do an honourable job.”
The liaison officers, who have been assisting families like those who made it out of the Grenfell Tower fire, are also based in Hendon.
Upon greeting them, the Duke of Cambridge said: “I don’t even know how you begin to deal with that, it’s a really harrowing job you have to do.”
The graduates marched through parade square at Hendon Police Complex before being inspected by Prince William and Commissioner Cressida Dick.

Commissioner Dick said: “We are honoured to have His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge preside over the passing-out parade, making this occasion even more memorable for our new probationary constables.
“My newest officers will very soon be protecting the capital as part of a police service with a global reputation and a proud history.
“There is no doubt that policing is challenging and recent tragic events in London have clearly demonstrated the Met’s professionalism and dedication.
“ It is a privilege to serve and the satisfaction of helping the public and making a real difference to the lives of many people offers a great reward, as our new probationers are about to discover.”
As the new officers will be posted in a London borough, Prince William joked that “pretty much everybody I met at the parade out there was going to Croydon.”
Prince William wished the new graduates the best while asking them about the exam revision “(It was) something that I was pretty poor at,” he added on.

To concluded the trip, he helped plant a cherry tree in the memorial garden.
