On Thursday 15 January, The Duchess of Cambridge, Royal Patron of The Art Room, will officially name The Clore Art Room at Barlby Primary School.
The Duchess will meet Barlby Primary School staff and students and will then be greeted into the new Art Room. There she will speak to children who attend workshops.
Kate will then join a round table discussion about the work of The Art Room with education professionals, Dame Vivien Duffield Chair of the Clore Duffield Foundation and Grayson Perry, Art Room Patron.
The Clore Art Room was funded by The Clore Duffield Foundation, as one of a series of 10 major grants to organisations across the UK to celebrate the Foundation’s 50th birthday.
The Art Room is a national charity offering art as therapy to children and young people aged five to 16 who are confronting challenges in their lives.
The Clore Art Room offers therapeutic assistance to students of Barlby Primary School and Oxford Gardens School. It was launched on 1st October 2014 by Patron Grayson Perry and supporter Dame Vivien Duffield
Since 2005, the Foundation has made donations to The Art Room and to celebrate its 50th year has chosen to fund the opening and running costs for three years of this new Art Room studio in Barlby Primary School.
Kate has been Royal Patron of The Art Room since January 2012, reflecting her interest in the arts and her specific interest in employing the creativity of art to enhance the lives of young people.
