A Downing Street spokesperson has confirmed that Dominic Raab will not be tasked with briefing The Queen in a weekly audience.
Mr Raab has been delegated many of the responsibilities of the Prime Minister, however, a weekly meeting with Her Majesty will not be necessary.
The Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister will be responsible for briefing The Queen while Boris Johnson is incapacitated.
Mr Raab serves as Her Majesty’s Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, and was chosen to fill in for the Prime Minister should a situation arise where Mr Johnson became unwell.
Now that theoretical scenario has come to fruition, Mr Raab holds many of the responsibilities that comes with the office of Prime Minister.
This includes responding to an attack on the UK and leading the Covid-19 task force.
Mr Raab cannot, however, hire or fire cabinet ministers.
Should Mr Raab also fall ill with coronavirus and be unable to fulfil his duties, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak will step up.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on Monday evening as his coronavirus symptoms worsened.
Foreign & Commonwealth Secretary Dominic Raab is deputising for Mr Johnson.
A Downing Street spokesperson said on Tuesday that Mr Johnson is in a stable condition and had a comfortable night in hospital.
Mr Johnson has not needed to use a ventilator, however, he has received oxygen treatment.
