Tomorrow, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York celebrates her 25th birthday. Reports say that the 6th in line to the throne is to celebrate the occasion with a party at Royal Lodge, Windsor; home to her father The Duke of York and to Princess Beatrice and her sister Eugenie until recently when they began occupying a flat at St James’s Palace, London.
Princess Beatrice has apparently told her party guests (who include Robbie Williams, Sir Richard Branson, Ashton Kutcher, Pippa Middleton and Dizzee Rascal among other names) to bring trainers because there would be a sporty-outdoor element to her party.
The party is said to have been organised by Sarah, Duchess of York (Princess Beatrice’s mother) and Princess Eugenie (her sister). Princess Beatrice, alongside boyfriend of 6 years Dave Clark, host a dinner after the sport events, also at Royal Lodge, probably in the saloon of the Duke of York’s residence which dominates a large part of the home.
Princess Beatrice does not perform many engagements in her own right and the Palace have insisted that she is to lead a relatively non-royal life. Currently, she has a full time career in finance. Yesterday though a new patronage was confirmed for Princess Beatrice as Royal Patron of the York Theatre Royal.
The age of 25 is of some significance in the Royal Family at the moment. Under the Royal Marriages Act 1772, all descendants of George II are required to seek the Monarch’s approval before marrying. If this is refused, providing the descendant is over the age of 25 and notifies the privy council, the descendant can marry in twelve months. Though this provision will obsolete when the Succession to the Crown Act is enforced.
