Zilber finished the Alex Scott Maiden Stakes at Newmarket in third place well behind the winner, Provident Spirit. The Countess, who is also a keen rider, watched the thoroughbred colt cross the line in the warm weather.

Sophie was seen talking in the paddock to co-owner The Countess of Derby as well as jockey Adam Kirby as they shared tactics. She was dressed casually wearing a tweed suit with chic patent boots.

Spending a day at the races meant The Earl and Countess of Wessex could have a break from a very busy schedule of engagements. Next week, they will be touring Gloustershire and visiting Oxfordshire.

Also at the races last week was The Queen whose horses didn’t perform as well as The Countess’s. Her filly finished in just seventh place at Newbury in the Coln Valley Stud Bridget Maiden Fillies Stakes.
