Princess Eugenie shares her thoughts on Netflix’s ‘The Crown’

Princess Eugenie of York is the first member of the royal family to publicly reveal that she has seen episodes The Crown, Netflix’s immensely popular dramatization of the early years of Her Majesty The Queen’s reign.

In an exclusive interview with the UK’s Hello magazine, Eugenie said: “I did watch a couple of episodes of The Crown” which centres on the reign and marriage of the princess’s grandparents. She added: “It is filmed beautifully. The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s how I felt when I watched it.”

With plans for several series already outlined, its possible that viewers will see The Queen’s grandchildren appear on screen and in the interview Princess Eugenie revealed that she wouldn’t mind be portrayed by “pretty cool” fellow Brit, Kate Beckinsale, when asked who she might like to see cast as ‘Princess Eugenie’.

The second and youngest daughter of The Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson, Princess Eugenie is an associate director at Hauser & Wirth gallery where she strives to maintain a sense of normalcy despite the constant balancing act of having to “straddle two worlds”. In the same interview with Hello, Eugenie shared that: “My boss is a lovely man. I think he understands when I have to take an afternoon,” she says. “I think there is an understanding that goes both ways. I am in service to my family and to the love of my grandmother.”

Princess Eugenie and her boyfriend of seven years, Jack Brooksbank, have been the focus of much recent royal wedding speculation though a representative for her mother has denied an imminent engagement announcement.

The second series of The Crown will start streaming on Netflix from December 2017 and fans of the show were given a sneak peek of the drama and tension to come in a recently revealed teaser trailer.
