Princess Eugenie, youngest daughter of the Duke of York and Fergie, Duchess of York joined them this week at the Frost Summer Fundraiser.
The 26-year-old Princess’s long-time boyfriend Jack Brooksbank was at the party, as was Pippa Middleton who has just announced her engagement. The Princess went for a chic look minimal make-up and her brown hair hanging loose, setting off a floral print dress by designers Alice and Olivia. With somewhat of a reputation for style close to, if not equal to that of the Duchess of Cambridge, Eugenie maybe decided that this was an event where the lenses of the paparazzi may well be in Pippa Middleton’s direction. Hence discretion was the order of the day.
The Frost Summer Fundraiser was organised by the Frost family for the Miles Frost Fund in association with the British Heart Foundation. Miles Frost was the 31-year-old son of the broadcaster Sir David Frost who died suddenly last year. He died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which has been traced to a faulty gene inherited from Sir David.
The aim of the fund is to raise £1.5million in order to set up a national testing programme for people who have a proven genetic link to the disease. It is to a point a ticking time-bomb which may or may not go off during a person’s lifetime, however, any of their children carry a 1 in 2 chance of inheriting the disease.
It is estimated that there are currently around 120,000 people in the UK that have HCM and a lot of those may well be undiagnosed. Every week twelve people under 35 in the United Kingdom die of an undiagnosed heart complaint. The Frost family, now mourning both a father who carried the disease and a son who died from it; hope that if just one life is saved from the money raised by the fund then their son’s death will not have been in vain.
