She’s becoming something of a regular at royal events this year. As the Duke of York took the salute at the Colonel’s Review, the final rehearsal for Trooping the Colour, his former wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, had pride of place to see him carry out this special royal duty for the first time.
Fergie joined their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, to watch Prince Andrew take the salute as the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. The event, at Horse Guard’s Parade in London, involved over 1450 soldiers of the Household Division and the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery as well as 400 musicians.
The Colonel’s review is the second and final rehearsal for the Trooping. This year’s main event will see the Grenadier Guards troop their colour in the presence of the Queen. The Duke of York will also take part in that parade. Prince Andrew became Colonel of the Grenadier Guards in 2017, taking over from his father, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Sarah, Duchess of York shared several photos of herself with Beatrice, Eugenie and Andrew on her Instagram and Twitter accounts, adding that she was ”so proud of @hrhthedukeofyork on parade today”. There were more behind the scenes images from Princess Eugenie’s social media where she said ”the Yorks were really proud of Papa”. Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and Beatrice’s boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, were also there.
It’s a second royal appearance for Fergie in a matter of weeks. She joined the Royal Family, led by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor on May 18th 2019 where they celebrated the marriage of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston.
