The Earl and Countess of Wessex are looking for a new Private Secretary

The Earl and Countess of Wessex are advertising for a new Private Secretary to begin working for the couple in 2019.

The royal couple is looking for somebody to manage their household and to accompany TRH on engagements both in the UK and abroad.

The successful candidate will be based mainly at Bagshot Park and will be integral in helping both Edward and Sophie in delivering their official programme.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex’s current Private Secretary, Tim Roberts, is leaving his position after five years in the job.

As stated in the job description: “Based mainly at Bagshot Park, but requiring flexibility to work in London as well, the role and responsibilities are wide and varied, advising and supporting TRH in all matters.

“You will plan and organise the official programme, where necessary accompanying TRH on visits in the UK and abroad, control expenditure and budgets, and deal with all correspondence.”

The advert continues: “You will be an experienced director with a track record of delivery at board level or equivalent in the military, or within the public or private sector.

“You will be willing and able to motivate and manage a small team, and be prepared to be hands-on.

“You will be a confident leader with good judgement, intellectual rigour, resilience, and proven integrity, and have a broad general knowledge and understanding of world and UK affairs.

“You will be comfortable operating at a strategic level and have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. 

“You will be able to organise programmes and events, manage and control finances, and have an eye for detail.”
