On Thursday, the organisation, Women of the Future, (WOF), named Sophie, Countess of Wessex as its Ambassador. WOF seeks to celebrate and support the career development of professional, working women throughout the United Kingdom.
Sophie is very familiar with WOF, having attended its award ceremonies and summits in past years. The Countess’ role as Ambassador will be to support the key elements of the organisation. These include the WOF International Summit and Awards and network for alumnae and the school’s programme. The overall goal of this programme, according to the press release from WOF, is to unlock “a culture of kindness and collaboration among the next generation of leaders”.
The founder of WOF, Pinky Lilani CBE DL, said, “We are honoured that Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex has agreed to act as an Ambassador for Women of the Future. The Countess’ recent 450-mile cycling challenge from Edinburgh to Buckingham Palace demonstrates the same determination and entrepreneurial spirit evident in this year’s shortlist for the Women of the Future Awards! HRH’s support for Women of the Future over the last few years has been invaluable; we are truly grateful for her commitment to supporting the success of young women in the UK.”
The two major upcoming events of WOF are the WOF International Summit, which last year drew attendees from over 30 countries, and the awards gala, both taking place on 16 November at the London Hilton.
This year’s theme for the summit is ‘The world of 2025’. The initial goal of these annual summits is to gather current and future leaders.
It will feature speakers such as Mike Coupe, CEO Sainsbury’s; Nicola Mendelsohn, Vice President of Facebook EMEA; and Sir John Sawers, former Head of MI6 and now Chairman at Macro Advisory and Roula Khalaf, Deputy Editor of the Financial Times. The speakers will examine and explore how our world’s economy and security could change during the next ten years. Because of their entrepreneurial and business experience, these speakers will give advice to these up-and-coming leaders.
This year marks the eleventh awards gala which honours and recognises influencers from sectors of business, sport, technology, media, culture, and much more.
