The Countess of Wessex arrived in Malta on Wednesday as a Global Ambassador for 100 Women in Finance Next Generation Initiative.
On Wednesday evening, the Countess dined with senior business leaders who have come in for the event.
On Thursday, International Women’s Day, the Countess of Wessex will start the day by opening the stock exchange in Valletta, followed by meeting women and business mentors at a women’s career fair and a luncheon.
The Countess of Wessex will be in Malta from 7-9 March. The last time she visited on official business was with her husband, the Earl of Wessex in 2012.
The Countess will also attend an evening reception at Casino Maltese that is hosted by 100 Women in Finance. Other special guests include HE The President of Malta and the Prime Minister.
Amanda Pullinger, CEO of 100 Women in Finance and Elaine Mulcahy, Chair of 100 Women in Finance’ Malta Committee are to speak at the event on what the organisation does and its future in Malta.
The Next Generation Initiative was launched in January 2015. In November of the same year, the Countess of Wessex was announced as a Global Ambassador. As an ambassador, she serves “as an advocate for increased diversity in the financial services industry, and for raising the industry’s visibility and appeal as young women consider career paths. Additionally, she will participate in conversations in which she can share 100WF’s global knowledge of best practices around cultivating interest and engagement from the next generation of women entering the industry.”
100 Women in Finance lists the goal of the Next Generation Initiative “to reach, inspire, and support young women who will become the pipeline for the future leadership in the industry.”
