The Queen will tell the nation to overcome their “deeply held differences” on Tuesday as Her Majesty addresses the nation in her annual Christmas Broadcast.
In her televised message, The Queen will say: “Even with the most deeply held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human being is always a good first step towards greater understanding.”
With Britain in the middle of the Brexit deadlock, Her Majesty’s speech is subtly aimed at the political discourse engulfing the country.
Although the monarch must always remain politically neutral, many observers will see the 92-year-old’s speech as one which paths the way for understanding and respect between two bitterly opposed fractions of the political spectrum.
As per usual, The Queen will also reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and the meaning of Christmas.
She will say:
“Through the many changes I have seen over the years, faith, friendship and family have been not only a constant for me but a source of personal comfort and reassurance.
“I believe this message of peace on earth and goodwill to all is never out of date. It can be heeded by everyone – it’s needed more than ever.”
In her 2018 Christmas Broadcast, The Queen wears an Angela Kelly ivory silk dress, and the Scarab Brooch which was gifted to the monarch by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1966.
The Queen’s Christmas Message will be broadcast at 3pm on Christmas Day on BBC One, ITV & Sky News.
