The Queen is left “furious” over Prince Philip death rumours

The Queen has been left “furious” after social media was flooded with claims that her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, had died.

Her Majesty is now considering how to combat the false rumours which now occur on a regular basis.

According to The Sun, The Queen called her 97-year-old husband on Friday evening for a “tense” ten-minute conversation to discuss how to tackle the rumours.

The 92-year-old Monarch phoned her husband from Balmoral, where she has just started her summer break. Prince Philip is currently at Sandringham, where he is still recovering from a hip replacement.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “They both agreed there was little they could do but they are very, very annoyed.

“It’s not nice to hear people the world over commenting on your health or death, even if you’re used to being in the public eye.

“The Queen is absolutely fuming over this and thinks it’s disgraceful.”

The rumours of Prince Philip’s death originated on Twitter during the late hours of Thursday, with the speculation becoming a top trending topic by the end of Friday.

These rumours were further fueled by the media who published clickbait articles relating to the Duke of Edinburgh to try and gain views.

Both The Queen and Prince Philip have fallen victim to death hoaxes before, and this will likely not be the final time.

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment.
