<![CDATA[On Thursday, The Queen honoured France's war dead by placing a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Her Majesty joined France’s President Francois Hollande in a ceremony to pay tribute those who paid the greatest sacrifice to safeguard the nation’s freedom.
President Hollande had formally greeted the Her Majesty and Duke of Edinburgh earlier when they arrived in Paris via the Eurostar.
Both The Queen and President Hollande placed their hands on the red, white and blue floral wreath as it a Senior British officer and his French equivalent started to gradually lower it to the tomb’s base.
As a sign of utmost respect, Her Majesty and the French President bowed their heads in reverence to those who died in conflict.
The Queen wore a pink summer wool ensemble with her Williamson brooch. In 1953 Cartier designer Frederick Mew, created the diamond and platinum brooch. Discovered in 1947, the Jonquil designed piece derived from the Williamson Diamond which is heralded as the finest pink diamond ever found.
After the national anthems performance, Her Majesty met with veterans who gathered for the ceremony.
As reported last week on Royal Central, The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will attend the Service of Remembrance at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery at Bayeux and meet veterans of the Second World War on Friday. Later, the Royal family members will attend the Commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings at Sword Beach.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will attend the Canadian National Memorial Service at the Juno Beach Centre, Courseulles-sur-Mer, to commemorate Canada’s role in the Normandy Landings.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend a veterans’ tea party in the town of Arromanches. William and Catherine will also attend the Commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings at Gold Beach (Arromanches).
