The Queen is amused after Mike Tindall reveals what he is hiding under his top hat

The Queen was left amused at Royal Ascot on Tuesday after Mike Tindall surprised her with the contents underneath his top hat.

Greeting Her Majesty in the paddock, Mr Tindall removed his hat before pulling a small item out of it.

The Queen then laughed, as did the Countess of Wessex who was stood next to Her Majesty.

The item in question appears to be a mini top hat, maybe for baby Archie who was born last month.

He then popped the mini headpiece inside his own hat as he continued to greet members of The Royal Family who had just arrived in the carriage procession.

The lack of sunshine didn’t stop the smiles. As day one of Royal Ascot 2019 got under way, the royal procession was led by the Queen who was joined by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands for the start of the famous meeting. And despite the drizzle and cloudy skies, the royal party seemed to be enjoying every second of Royal Ascot.

The traditional procession was made in open carriages despite the intermittent rain. The Duke of York accompanied his mother and the Dutch king and queen in the first open landau.

Also in the carriage procession was the Prince of Wales & the Duchess of Cornwall, the Princess Royal, the Earl & Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
