The Queen looking for a housekeeping assistant

Royal Central occasionally features open positions in one of the royal residences or as part of the Royal Family’s staff. There is a current position available at Buckingham Palace for a live-in maid to clean Her Majesty’s priceless historic vases and irreplaceable paintings. Potential applicants have until 12 February to apply.

This is a £16,755-a-year job that includes meals, and you’ll also be living at Buckingham Palace. Therefore, your salary will be adjusted accordingly. You’ll receive 33 holiday days and benefits. You’ll most likely meet The Queen and members of the Royal Family, as well.

The advertisement on the British Monarchy’s website says this position is about “delivering extraordinary service in incredible surroundings.” It also warns that “this is no standard housekeeping role.” You’ll have other responsibilities, as well. They also said, “You’ll work, and live, in stunning historic settings, ensuring that they’re presented to their best for colleagues, guests and, of course, the Royal Family.

“Aiming for the highest standards, you’ll clean and care for interiors and items from carpets and furniture to historic vases and irreplaceable paintings.

“You’ll take care of guests and support special events too. And, in an environment where development and training is commonplace, you’ll be able to grow your skills far beyond your immediate role.”

The advertisement stresses that experience in hospitality isn’t required but appreciated, “Housekeeping or hospitality experience would be an asset, but is by no means essential. We’re more interested in your outstanding team working skills.

“You clearly take care and pride in your work, and your keen attention to detail means you aim for the highest standards in all that you do.

You’re not just a maid, but a valued member of a team charged with caring for some of the most valuable items The Queen has. They said, “It’s feeling house-proud about the world’s most famous homes. It’s being encouraged to gain new skills. And it’s delivering extraordinary service in incredible surroundings. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.”

The candidate will receive a 15% pension scheme, access to recreational facilities and on-the-job training and development.
