Mo Farah and Ewan McGregor collect honours from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace

Mo Farah and Ewan McGregor visited Buckingham Palace this morning to collect their honours.


Mo Farah became a national treasure in 2012

The two arrived at Buckingham Palace this morning for the investiture ceremony, where they were given the prestigious honour by Prince Charles.

Olympic hero Mo Farah was awarded with a CBE to represent his services to athletics. Mo won the hearts of the nation last year when he became a double Olympic champion at the London 2012 games. The runner won the 10,000 metres gold in a time of 27:30.42, which was the first gold medal in the 10,000 for Great Britain. Mo continued his winning run when won the 5000 metres in a time of 13:41.66.

The runner arrived this morning looking very excited for his day at the Palace. Last night, the champion revealed he was getting an early night in preparation for his day, tweeting “Good night!!! ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz”.

Mo became one of the faces of Britain’s Olympics with his signature “Mobot,” and most recently the star was seen at Wimbledon taking a front seat in the Royal Box.

The Olympic star revealed Prince Charles told him “You must be getting sick of so many medals,” as he collected the award.

Along with Mo, Ewan McGregor has been honoured by the Queen today for his services to drama and charity.

The actor who has starred in many blockbuster films also received his OBE from Prince Charles. Ewan seemed to be excited for his big day, with an early morning tweet. “This morning I will be wearing my kilt for a special occasion. First time in a long time. #lovethekilt,” the popular actor revealed.

Ewan has starred in some the biggest films of the last years, most recently Ewan acted alongside Naomi Watts in the award-winning The Impossible.
