Ballot opens for free tickets to Queen’s birthday

If you missed out on your chance to purchase tickets to Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday celebrations, a new opportunity to take part in the festivities has opened up.

A draw to win one of 5,000 free tickets to the Queen’s 90th birthday has begun.

Tickets for The Long Walk at Windsor Castle, taking place on the final night of celebrations on 15 May are available to the public, although half of the 5,000 tickets are for local Windsor residents.

The 2.5 mile stretch from Windsor Castle will be a party atmosphere with food and drinks starting at 3 pm with The Queen’s birthday celebration shown on big screens.

Those wishing to attend the milestone birthday first had a chance to purchase seated tickets to the 900 horse, 1,500 participant show in November, but tickets were a hot item selling out almost immediately.  Members of the Royal Family will attend all four evenings and The Queen on the final evening which is to be hosted by Ant and Dec and broadcast on ITV.

If you are interested in entering the ballot you have until 14 March and can apply for up to four tickets online at

Winners will be notified by email at the end of March.

“The Long Walk evening is expected to have a great party atmosphere for the 5,000 ticket holders with food stands, picnicking opportunities and entertainment to enjoy against the stunning backdrop of Windsor Castle.” said a spokesman for organisers HMQ90.
