Her Majesty The Queen is to return back to normal starting with a Commonwealth-themed series of engagements on Monday after recovering from a bout of gastroenteritis which saw The Queen hospitalised for the first time in 10 years.
Her Majesty will attend the Commonwealth Observance at Westminster Abbey, London SW1. Later, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will attend the Commonwealth Reception given by the Commonwealth Secretary-General at Marlborough House, London SW1.
This week Her Majesty took time off to recover from gastroenteritis (a stomach bug) which results in some combination of diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain and cramping. Gastroenteritis has also been referred to as gastro, stomach bug, and stomach virus. Although unrelated to influenza, it has also been called stomach flu and gastric flu.
Her Majesty was admitted to hospital on 3rd March after suffering extended symptoms of the stomach bug. She was expected to remain in hospital for two days though was released after just one.
Her Majesty has recovered fully from the illness.
