Sophie Winkleman seriously injured in car crash with suspected broken back

Sophie Winkleman, the wife of Lord Frederick Windsor and daughter-in-law of Prince Michael of Kent, has been involved in a serious car crash.

The mother of two has been admitted to hospital with a broken foot and suspected broken back.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Ms Winkleman was sitting in the back seat of a chauffeur-driven car another vehicle swerved into the car while trying to avoid a deer.

Four ambulance crews and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene where Ms Winkleman was treated and admitted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

She was later transferred to London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The accident happened ten days ago, and members of her family including Prince Michael have visited her in hospital.

Ms Winkleman married Lord Frederick Windsor in 2009 and they have two daughters, one-year-old Isabella and four-year-old Maud, who is a classmate of Prince George.

The 37-year-old actress is the half-sister of Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman, and was believed to have been travelling back from a day of filming when the crash occurred.
