Zara Tindall to compete on home soil at Land Rover Gatcombe Park Novice

Staged at the home of The Princess Royal, riders from 21 nations, the largest in event history, will compete in the Land Rover Gatcombe Park Novice and Intermediate Horse Trials this weekend (23rd – 24th March). Some of the participating countries include Australia, Canada, China, France and of course, Great Britain.

While Princess Anne will be hosting the event, all eyes will be on her daughter, Zara Tindall – an equestrian and Olympic silver-medal winner. Tindall will be joined by Cotswold favourites, Harry Meade and Tom McEwan.

In its 26th year, the event will take place on a course designed by Princess Anne and her event organiser, Pattie Biden. The course is set to utilise a different area of the Gatcombe Park Estate by using an area that was used by the Festival of British Eventing back in August.

Starting at 8 am, the two-day long event starting with dressage, show jumping and different cross-country phases. Princess Anne will be presenting prizes throughout the event.

Situated at Hampton Fields, the park is mid-way between Minchinhampton and Avening. Spectator admission is £6 for a car and all occupants and £4 for a programme. More information can be found on the event’s website, www.gatcombehorsetrials.co.uk.

Just last week, Zara (who is 17th in line to the throne) and her husband retired rugby union player, Mike Tindall had the christening of their second daughter, Lena Elizabeth Tindall, who was born last June. The christening was held at St Nicholas Church in Cherington, Gloucestershire. Her Majesty The Queen, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are among those who attended the event with Prince Harry being one of those named godfather to Lena.

The Tindalls have one older daughter, Mia Grace, who was born in January 2014.
