The appointment was mentioned in the Court Circular on Monday 27th May (pictured). Lane-Fox will take over from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s and Prince Harry’s Principal Private Secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton.
The appointment of Lane-Fox, and the later confirmation that the Principle Private Secretary will be leaving in September is a clear sign that the Cambridges and Prince Harry are preparing to fully launch themselves into Royal duties and their new household, which will be based at Kensington Palace.
Edward Lane-Fox will be Prince Harry’s first Private Secretary, whereas before he shared one with his brother.
Edward Lane-Fox was an officer in the Blues and Royals, the same regiment as his new employer, Prince Harry. Lane Fox left the Army in 2006 at the rank of Captain (the same rank that Prince Harry currently holds).
Prince Harry personally selected his new Private Secretary, reports say. He will assist Prince Harry with public engagements and the royal side of his life.
Whilst it seems the Prince will be increasing his royal duties, he will not be leaving the Armed Forces at this time.
