Prince Harry represents The Queen at Sovereign’s Parade

Before Kensington Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be wed on 19 May 2018, Prince Harry spent the day at Sandhurst representing his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

Representing The Queen as the Reviewing Officer, Prince Harry was at Sandhurst for the Sovereign’s Parade which marks the passing out of Officer Cadets when they have completed the Commissioning Course.

The intensive training program takes a year and is filled with officer cadets from not only the United Kingdom but across the world.

Prince Harry went through the program, becoming an Army officer in April 2006. The Sovereign’s Parade was attended by his father, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William with The Queen, accompanied by Prince Philip, taking the salute.

Prince Harry had a hard time keeping a straight face during the occasion as his grandmother inspected him.

During today’s parade, Prince Harry addressed the new graduates, saying: “You are now part of something much bigger than yourself, part of a new family which you have earned the right to join and which you will never really leave. Today a baton is being passed to you – the next generation of Army Officers.

“No matter how challenging the road ahead becomes, the time you have spent in this great place has prepared you to face any test. You have learnt how to lead by example and to lift up all those around you. And you are all better people for it.

“Thank you for the commitment you have made; to each other, to your soldiers and to all of us. I wish you all every success for the future, the very best of luck, and I implore you to make the most of this enormous privilege!”

While at Sandhurst, Prince Harry presented, the International Award, The International Sword of Honour, The Sword of Honour and The Queen’s Medal.
