Prince Harry meets with UK contenders for the Invictus Games

Prince Harry visited the University of Bath earlier this week to take a look at competitors for this years Invictus Games.

Prince Harry, who is the patron of the Invictus Games Foundation met with an array of people who were competing in trials to get a place in the games later this year.

What is the Invictus Games?

It is an international event that focuses on a long list of different types of sports. The event was created specifically for competitors “who have come face-to-face with the reality of making a sacrifice for their country.” The Invictus Games is made up of contenders who are or were serving army personnel that have been injured. The Invictus Games is recognised as a Paralympic-style event; some of the sports that the injured service women and men or veterans contend in include sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and much more.

The first Invictus Games was in 2014, following its success Prince Harry created the Invictus Games Foundation. The foundation’s aim is to ‘develop the legacy of Games which includes managing the process of selecting the hosts of future games and overseeing their delivery.’ The main objective of the creation of the Invictus Games is to “use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women.”

Prince Harry watched and cheered on competitors taking part in the trials in Bath.

One of the trials that Prince Harry observed was rugby. Harry was seen speaking to a potential contender for the Invictus Games, Matt Attwood after he had demonstrated a rugby tackle.

After speaking with hopefuls, Prince Harry delivered a speech wishing them good luck.

This year Toronto will host the Invictus Games, with an expected 300 servicemen, women and veterans competing in sports over four days. There are only 90 places available for the UK team.

THIS is one of the greatest service any of the Royals perform. These games have caught the imagination of the world and are damn fun to watch. When the games were held in the UK the final awards ceremony attracted Harry’s very proud family including the Queen and Prince Philip. These games along with his war service have made Prince Harry an international favorite. Whenever he visits the US he makes time to visit at least one vets rehab center where he gets very close and personal with his fellow vets. He is always very well received by men who appreciate him.

Why has Prince Harry after more than a year not taken Meagan Markle to meet the Queen to formally ask for blessing of a marriage. And, why is the Queen only seen at Sunday service. “There is something rotten in Denmark.” Even though poor, I was taken by my wife to ask for her parents blessing upon our long marriage’s beginning step.
