Prince Harry attends charity gala for wounded warriors

His Royal Highness Prince Harry attended the Crystal Ball Gala at Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night, in support of the Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge.

Walking With The Wounded is a charity which funds re-training and re-education of wounded servicemen and women with the aim of assisting them in finding long term employment after leaving the Armed Forces.

Prince Harry, who is a patron of the charity, and a team of wounded British soldiers, will take part in a race to the South Pole at the end of the year.  The race will cover 200 miles and the team will have to endure treks through freezing temperatures and 50mph winds.  The purpose of this expedition is to highlight the extraordinary courage of the men and women who have been wounded in the line of duty.  Harry, who is also known as Captain Wales, is an Apache helicopter co-pilot in the Army Air Corps and is all too familiar with the dangers faced by soldiers on the front lines.

Prince Harry is expected to join the Royal family at a service to mark the 60th anniversary of the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday.
