Loathsome petition launched to bar Meghan Markle from having a role in The Royal Family

A petition has been launched urging Theresa May to bar Meghan Markle from having an official role or title when she marries into The Royal Family later this year.

The petition, which contains questionable undertones, has gathered 3,000 signatures.

Opinion by Royal Central’s Editor, Charlie Proctor

The petition states that Meghan Markle isn’t suitable to become a member of The Royal Family because she is a divorcee.

One can only presume that renders The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Princess Royal and the Duke of York unsuitable as well?

Similarly, the petition states: “No member of the Royal Family should have naked images of them freely available on the internet as she does.”

Presumably, that also renders the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Countess of Wessex and the Duke of York unsuitable to be royals as well?

A letter addressed to the Prime Minister attached to the petition reads: “The undersigned believe that Meghan Markle is unsuitable to be a member of the Royal Family and to have an official position in representing this country.

“She has shown her disrespect for the Monarch and Royal Family by pulling faces and sticking her tongue out to the visitors during her first public appearance with the Queen.

Her attitude and actions in Nottingham and Brixton shows her lack of respect towards Harry and the Royal Family and it’s traditions and protocol. The fact that she turned up in an outfit designed to support a political cause and talked about gender issues shows she has no intention of giving up on her political beliefs.”

The letter goes on to accuse Miss Markle of being unsuitable because she is a divorcee as well as being a successful actress.

The irony is, that after examining those who have signed the petition, hardly any of them live in the United Kingdom. Most reside in the United States.

Meghan Markle will marry Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in May and will be given a title alongside Prince Harry.

Some of the possibilities for their new title include the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Clarence.
