Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to visit Nottingham on Friday

Kensington Palace has announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will conduct their first official engagement together as a couple in Nottingham on Friday.

Nottingham is a city close to Prince Harry’s heart, and it is somewhat suitable it will be the couple’s first stop as they now officially reside in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.

On their visit, Harry and Meghan will focus on issues close to their hearts including raising awareness of issues including HIV/AIDS and youth crime

For their first stop of the day, the couple will visit Nottingham Contemporary which will be hosting a Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair.

When they arrive at the venue, the couple will conduct a walkabout outside the National Justice Museum meeting members of the local community.

They will then meet representatives from Terrence Higgins Trust Nottingham, the African Institute for Social Development and Champions for Change. These three organisations support local communities in Nottingham focusing on HIV/AIDS.

Harry and Meghan will also meet representatives from The Food Chain and BHIVA, who try and end the stigma which surrounds HIV/AIDS.

The couple will then travel on to Nottingham Academy in relation to the Full Effect programme. This scheme has been supported by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry since 2013.

The programme supports children and young people in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham, ensuring they stay away from crime.

On Tuesday, Kensington Palace confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be getting married in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The Royal Family will pay for most of the costs of the wedding. It will likely be televised, however, there are no plans for there to be a bank holiday to mark the occasion.

Royal Central will be in Nottingham on Friday covering Harry and Meghan’s first engagement as a couple.
