American Bishop to give address at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding

An American Bishop has been asked to give the address at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle next Saturday.

The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, has been asked by the royal couple to deliver the address at Windsor Castle next week.

Presiding Bishop Curry is from Chicago in the state of Illinois and will travel to Windsor especially for the occasion.

He will join The Dean of Windsor, The Rt. Revd. David Conner, who will conduct the Service. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, will officiate the ceremony as the couple make their marriage vows.

The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry said: “The love that has brought and will bind Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle together has its source and origin in God, and is the key to life and happiness. And so we celebrate and pray for them today.”

Bishop Curry was installed as the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church in 2015.

He was elected at 78th General Convention of The Episcopal Church in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He is the Chief Pastor and serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society and chair of the Executive Council of The Episcopal Church.

The United States-based Episcopal Church was born from the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church. It is a constituent member of the global Anglican Communion, of which the Church of England is the Mother Church.

Harry and Meghan will marry in just seven days time at St George’s Chapel, located in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Most details of the wedding are now known. Who is on the guest list and what Meghan will be wearing is the only mystery.
