Princess Beatrice ‘will focus on career more than royal life’

The Royal Household have said today that Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York will be focusing more on her career in finance than pursuing a schedule of royal engagements like many other members of her family.

Princess Beatrice is a granddaughter of The Queen and is 5th in line to the throne.

Princess Beatrice, who is 5th in line and is the first female in line to the throne, currently pursues what is referred to as a ‘career with an unnamed venture capital firm’. Sometimes, she’ll perform engagements on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen and in her own right.

Tomorrow, it is reported that Her Royal Highness will open the Trinity Academy in Halifax and also the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield.

These two engagements will be in a handful of engagements Princess Beatrice performs every year.

Most notably, she and her sister Princess Eugenie travelled to Germany a few months ago to promote British trade there. During the few days they spent there, the two Princesses worked doing a similar thing to what their father the Duke of York used to do as official trade envoy for the United Kingdom.

Some heralded it as a success, though others regarded it as ineffective due to the Princesses’ lack of connection to the business world.

Princess Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie are both working on their own careers and are not expected to assume full time royal duties like their father and cousins. When Prince Charles becomes King, it is expected he will slim down the Royal Family, which will mean fewer minor members of the Royal Family performing full time royal duties.

Princess Beatrice celebrates her 25th birthday this year. She is thought to be living in an apartment at St James’s Palace, London with her sister Princess Eugenie which is subsidised by their father. St James’s Palace is only a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace and is attached to Clarence House, the official residence of the Prince of Wales.
