With Prince Harry to visit the United States from 9th-15th May this year, excitement is already building in anticipation for the 28-year-old 3rd-in-line to the throne in America, with His Royal Highness set to visit places such as New York and Washington DC.
Now, Royal Central has discovered that the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward (The Queen’s youngest child and 3rd son) is to visit America from 21st May to the 24th May, only days after Prince Harry visits.
The Royal website states, ‘The Earl of Wessex, from 21st- 24th May, will carry out engagements in the United States of America.’
At the moment, the website says nothing more than this, though more will be announced closer to the date.
It is not known whether His Royal Highness will complete the engagements alone or whether he’ll be accompanied by his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex or their children.
The 49-year-old, who is 7th in line to the throne, along with his wife, carries out a full schedule of royal duties on behalf of the Queen, receiving official money from the Queen of £141,000 per annum for their work in the United Kingdom, and various amounts from the governments of the other realms for his work there.
The Earl of Wessex has taken over some duties from his father and is one day to be made Duke of Edinburgh after Prince Philip dies, so that he can continue the work his father has been doing, such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme.
