Maud Windsor is christened at St James’s Palace

Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina Windsor, daughter of Lord and Lady Fredrick Windsor, was christened this afternoon at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

Maud was baptised in the same chapel as her third cousin once removed, HRH Prince George of Cambridge. Similarly, Lord and Lady Fredrick’s daughter was christened in the replica of the Victorian christening robe that was also worn by Prince George at his christening in October.large_2818999780

Maud was born at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles on 15th August earlier this year. Although she is the first cousin twice removed of Her Majesty the Queen, Maud does not hold a title. She is now 40th in the line to the throne, compared to her cousin, Prince George, who is 3rd in line.

Lord Fredrick Windsor became engaged to actress Sophie Winkleman in February 2009, and they married at Hampton Court on the 12th September later that year. Their marriage means that Sophie is entitled with the name of Lady Fredrick Windsor. However, due to Sophie’s profession, she continues to use her maiden name. Lord and Lady Frederick have been living in Los Angeles since their marriage because of Lady Fredrick’s acting career.

Maud is the first grandchild of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Prince Michael of Kent, is the grandson of George V, and therefore is a cousin to the Queen.
