Twitter has announced that over 3.4 million tweets have been sent out between midnight and 13.30 GTM about the Royal Wedding. The hashtags #RoyalWedding and #Harry&Meghan have been trending all day long.
On Twitter people from all over the world have celebrated the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex today. Over 3.4 million tweets have been sent out about the wedding of the year according to official Twitter statistics.
The top most memorable moment of the ceremony according to the amount of tweets has been the sermon of Bishop Michael Curry with over 40,000 tweets per minute. The other two moments of top three are Sheku Kanneh-Mason performing Ave Maria on the cello with 28,000 tweets per minute and Prince Harry & Meghan being announced as husband and wife with 27,000 tweets per minute.
Not surprisingly the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been the most tweeted about couple at the Royal Wedding today. In second come family friends David and Victoria Beckham who also attended the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011. Other most mentioned people in tweets about the Royal Wedding have been the American media proprietor, Oprah Winfrey, Diana, Princess of Wales and human rights lawyer, Amal Clooney.
Twitter was not the only social media platform on which people celebrated the wedding. Wedding guest and American actress Troian Bellisario, married to Meghan’s Suits co-star Patrick Adams, shared a video in which she tried on the slippers that were handed out after the reception of the Royal Wedding for people with painful feet. She also uploaded a picture of the Suits cast on their way to the wedding in one of the busses.
Several other guests are also posted pictures of theirselves attending the wedding as the reception seems to have come to an end. A private reception for 200 guests is to take place later this evening.
