The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend this year’s Royal Variety Performance

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to attend the Royal Variety Performance at The London Palladium on Monday, 19th November.

His Royal Highness attended his first Royal Variety Performance in 2015 at Royal Albert Hall. That particular year, performers included One Direction, Josh Groban and Sir Elton John CBE.

According to Hello!, this year’s event will be hosted by comedian Greg Davies. While musical guests will include Take That, George Ezra, Rick Astley as well as Lost Voicd Guy or, Lee Ridley. Ridley won this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, and with tradition, the winner of the series gets to perform at the annual star-studded gala.

The cast of Hamilton is also set to performA favourite of the Duke and Duchess, Meghan has been said to have seen the hit-show three times.

The Royal Variety Performance takes place every year around the holiday season and is held in aid of the Royal Variety Charity (RVC), to which The Queen is a Patron. The money raised helps hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK who are in need of assistance or help as a result from poor health, hard circumstances and old age amongst other results.

Specifically, the charity assists former members of the entertainment industry who reside in Brinsworth House, a residential home in Twickenham. The home is maintained and owned by the charity. Upon arrival to the event, the Duchess will receive a posy from the Brinsworth House Garden.

There is currently no word yet on if other members of the Royal Family will be attending this year’s event. The Royal Variety Performance has been a tradition since 1912 and has been watched by over 152 million TV viewers, making the performance the most successful and longest-running entertainment show in the world.

The event will be televised on ITV in December.
